My idea was to somehow salvage some stock pipes I had cut up...i.e. removed too much of the internals.

So i needed to put metal back in....and had to come up with a piece of metal approximately 3 1/4" in diameter.

I thought of pipe flanges I had once used to make a frame to hang garments on. Hardware store had them, and just about the right diameter. Only needed to grind off about 1/16" from the outside edge of the flange, all the way around.

Not really a lot of work involved here, because the flange is nearly the perfect diameter.

Then mounted the flange to the mufflers inner ring with 1/4" x 20 cutting screws, that is, they cut their own threads as they are inserted. At the same time, I had added Loctite to the threads.

Flush the whole thing with spray carb cleaner, then some lacquer thinner, and ready for paint and install.

Of course once they were done, but before they were painted, I had to hear them on the bike...TERRIFIC !! Once I paint them, will replace the existing slash cuts stockers I have on there now...so it was a win - win situation...
